Explore the CINÉMA AFRICAIN! 2026 film lineup and the vibrant world of African cinema. From powerful narratives to captivating visuals, discover unique stories and diverse voices from across the continent and its diaspora.
The festival opens with Nomad Shadow by Eimi Imanishi, a fierce portrait of a woman navigating deportation and belonging, and closes with Alain Gomis's Berlinale-selected Dao. In between: an intimate documentary on Rastafarian icon Diane Jobson, Olive Nwosu's Lagos-set Lady, which had its world debut at the Berlinale, Suzannah Mirghani's Venice-premiered debut Cotton Queen, a special focus on urban transformation and displacement in Dakar with Fagamou Fama Ndiaye's Concrete Moves and Mamadou Khouma Gueye's Liti Liti – The Attachment, a retrospective of Sarah Maldoror's Carnival Trilogy and the BETWEEN SHORES short film program connecting island and coastal stories across the African diaspora.
The 2026 lineup features a wide range of Austrian premieres, offering audiences the chance to discover films that have not previously screened in Austria.
